When Hanna and her fellow sufferers arrived at the Gut Aiderbichl Ballermann Ranch, it was a picture of misery. Their hooves were far too long and their tails were caked with dirt and manure from the past few years. You could see that they were totally weakened and exhausted. Animal lovers became aware of the mares' sad existence. Up to their knees in dirt, without fresh hay or water, they had to eke out an existence in their old home. Under the most difficult conditions, animal lovers were able to buy the mares, but there was nowhere to put them. Annette Engelhardt finally asked Dieter Ehrengruber for help when she heard about this fate and now the formerly neglected animals can live a happy life as proud horses.
