Hermes belongs to the fallow deer breed, which originated in the Near East and Asia Minor. Today, however, they are native to many parts of Europe. A special feature of fallow deer: their shovel antlers - unlike those of our red deer Batzi - and their normally brown coat with white patches. Hermes is something very special and he seems to know it. His snow-white coat is an anomaly that is relatively common in fallow deer. But because myths still surround the white stag, it is rare that anyone wants to mess with them. For example, there is a persistent rumor that if you shoot a white stag, you will die within two years. This superstition still has a lot of power and ultimately contributed to Hermes' rescue.
