When we look into Kavala's eyes, we are infinitely grateful that we were able to help her. Back in 2013, during the flood of the century in Deggendorf, the lives of many animals were in danger and an incredible number lost their lives in the masses of water. The Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf team worked day and night to bring people and animals to safety. Entire stables were evacuated and all the animals were housed at Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf for the time being. We witnessed many fates at first hand. Among them was that of farmer Traudl, whose cattle we had evacuated. When she approached Michael Aufhauser after a few days with a very specific question, we couldn't say no: "Can my cattle and I stay with you?".
