Laika, whose name actually translates from Russian as "barker", has already charmed many a visitor with her beautiful eyes. She belongs to a domesticated type of camel that is mainly bred for its wool. They are characterized by their calm and peaceful nature, which is why they are often used in animal-assisted therapy. Laika owes her adoption to another animal rescue. Alpaca gelding Moritz (†) suffered a lot from loneliness after his rescue and became increasingly sad.
