A little calf was born with one blind eye and was deemed unsuitable for the farm, which is why she was about to be slaughtered. However, an employee of Gut Aiderbichl learned of her situation and decided to save the calf. Our vet examined Luzia as soon as she arrived and offered a glimmer of hope: she knew specialists and had heard of successful operations. The day of the examination arrived and Luzia survived the journey to Vienna without any problems. During the examination, something amazing happened: the experts discovered that the corneal opacity had reduced. The calf's eyeball continued to grow, while the opacity decreased. Although Luzia may never reach 100% vision, she is no longer blind in the affected eye and will be able to see better and better over the course of her life. She was given the name Luzia, meaning the radiant one, to symbolize her journey from darkness to light.
