Holstein cattle are considered the dairy cow breed and are synonymous with a high-performance dairy cow. They have a milk yield of 8,000 liters per year. Everyone knows them, everyone has seen them, but far too few appreciate the sacrifice these dairy cows have to make time and time again - so that humans can drink milk. Again and again, the cow has to give birth to a calf in order to be able to give milk at all. The males are usually not needed here - they are used for fattening and end up in a slaughterhouse.
