Special care place - what does that mean?

Before we place the animals, we look after them in detail at Gut Aiderbichl. We know their history, their characteristics and their preferences inside out. We are happy to help you find the right dog or cat.

Gut Aiderbichl provides the animals with a lifelong special care place. This means that you give an animal a loving and species-appropriate “forever home” with you, and thus also take full responsibility for your new fosterling. Yet the animal remains an “Aiderbichler” forever.

We at Gut Aiderbichl can look back on many years of experience in dealing with animals. For this reason, we reserve the right to intervene in the lives of our former protégés, such as major operations or even euthanasia, which must be agreed with us in advance.

I will be happy to help you find the right dog or cat for you.

We can take in many of these animals at Gut Aiderbichl, but our capacities are also limited. Our aim is to give all animals the prospect of a loving and species-appropriate home. That is why we also offer private individuals the opportunity to find a new home for their animals.

There are a few things to consider before your new family member moves in:

We are delighted that you are considering giving a dog from animal welfare a new home. Many of our dogs and cats long for a private and safe home. And for many people, having a pet of their own is also a dream come true. However, the purchase of an animal must be well thought out.

At Gut Aiderbichl, we have also experienced the human fates behind the animals that come to us. The costs that the animal causes suddenly become too great, the care of the animal takes up too much time in everyday life, or the living circumstances change due to a move.

Animals may not have a voice, but they have certain needs that their home must fulfil. For this reason, it is important to us that the following points are carefully considered before we place an animal with you. This way we can be sure that our fosterlings will find a loving “forever home” with you.

Housing situation
  1. What is your current living situation? Do you have enough space for species-appropriate housing?
  2. If you live in a rented flat, are you allowed to keep pets?
  3. Are you planning to move in the near future?
Private situation
  1. Does anyone in the household have an allergy? If in doubt, please get tested.
  2. Is the pet’s food provided for during the holiday?
  3. Am I prepared to look after the animal if it falls ill?
  4. Am I prepared to look after the animal for the rest of its life?
Professional situation
  1. Is caring for a pet compatible with your working hours?
  2. How long would your pet have to be left alone?
  3. Is it possible to take your dog to work with you?
Care of the animal
  1. What are the exact tasks involved in caring for my chosen pet?
  2. Have you considered the monthly fixed costs of around EUR 70 per month (vet bills or dog school may incur additional costs)?
