The piano playing of the Galgos
It sounds like something out of a horror film: for some galgueros, hanging is still a tradition. Animals that have performed well but are no longer in top form are hung high – a quick death.
Animals that have “disappointed” with poor performance are made to pay for it and suffer extra. They are hanged so that their paws barely touch the ground. Their desperate attempts to find support as they suffocate in agony are referred to as “playing the piano”.
