Impulse and Solero

two former exercise horses for students

From the perspective of an Aiderbichler

(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)

Impuls and Solero were both training horses in a horse clinic and have been Aiderbichler horses for some time now. As exercise horses they were too dangerous for the students, and now they live with our horses in Hungary. They have made friends, are very well looked after with everything they need and feel completely at ease.

Solero, a now six-year-old Haflinger, spent two years as a training horse in an equine clinic. He suffers from a slight lameness in his front left leg. In his stable, Solero is completely uncomplicated. He is a well-behaved Haflinger, but he is a real rascal. He is a real rascal and also very playful.
Solero is easy to lead and the groomers are among his friends, no matter what they are doing with him. Trust takes time. Solero’s trust in people is growing more and more.

Solero made his friends in Hungary right from the start, while the 18-year-old Impuls, a Polish warmblood, was not immediately accessible.
Impuls was a school horse until 2015, when he came to the equine clinic. He also has signs of lameness in trot on the front left and rear left.
Impuls gets stressed in his stable and absolutely dislikes being locked up. In his case, the carers need a particularly sensitive strategy to be allowed to get close to him.People must approach him completely calmly, otherwise he gets nervous and tries to avoid them. If a carer comes too close to his mouth, he turns away very quickly. However, if the vet wants to take blood samples for examination purposes, Solero takes it all in his stride. Impuls has probably had his own experiences, which you can only guess at.On the whole, Impuls is in good health and feels fit.

Use of knowledge, patience and love for the animal

In all these years, the staff at Gut Aiderbichl have learnt what it’s all about: learning from the animals and applying the knowledge and experience they have gained to newly adopted animals.
Every animal’s character is different – only with patience and love can the animal’s trust be won. Trust can also only be built up if you get to know the nature and requirements of the animal in question. This in turn requires empathy, knowledge about the behaviour of horses, for example, and also the personal gift and talent to interpret behaviour correctly and act accordingly. When the circle closes, the animal and its human have achieved a harmonious coexistence.

Impuls and Solero are relaxed and everyone has found their friends – among the horses and among the people at the home yard in Hungary.

We find the answers to our questions in nature.
