Wickie, Lucky, Anton and Michl

they live where dreams learn to fly

From the perspective of an Aiderbichler

(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)

The Gut Aiderbichl network includes over 30 farms, one of which is the Heimathof farm in Eslarn, Germany. Dairy farming was practised at the farm in Eslarn. The Meckls saw a Gut Aiderbichl Christmas programme and afterwards the family made an effort to take in Aiderbichl animals. Today, cattle, horses, goats, sheep and pigeons live there in a 350m² pigeon house. There is everything that animals could wish for here: great stables, wide pastures, love and understanding for the animals and their needs.

Two new horses – Wickie and Lucky, as well as two special sheep – Anton and Michl – now live in the idyllic surroundings of the farm in Eslarn. Their biographies are so typical of animals that find a home at Gut Aiderbichl.

Wickie and Lucky – the financial collapse due to corona

Numerous animal rescues involve not only an animal fate, but also a human one. If we can help animals, we can also help people. This is a guiding principle of the Aiderbichler philosophy, because everything is interconnected.

Wickie is a 26-year-old Shetland pony, and was handed in together with the 14-year-old riding pony Lucky. Both were at home on a horse holiday farm. Corona brought the bitter turning point for humans and animals. Everything had to be sold. The family and their horses needed a new home. It was not difficult to find new owners for the young horses. Nobody wanted to take the not-so-young ones like Wickie and Lucky.

Anton and Michl - for the owner they were family members

Anton and Michel are still very young sheep at the age of two. They are people-loving, love being stroked, think soft brushes are great and love going for walks with their owner.
She had to look for a new home, and was lucky to find one close to where her “two boys” could also be accommodated. Health problems that required an operation threw everything into disarray. Desperate, she set out in search of a lifelong forever home for Anton and Michl.

The two sheep have settled in wonderfully in Eslarn. Eddy, the Coburg sheep, has become one of their best friends. I think we can call it a happy ending.

Too old, too few financial resources - very often the pressure is impossible to manage

For a variety of reasons, people lose everything that is part of the basic balance in life. Then the maths begins: what can I leave out to continue life without pressure? In most cases, you move into a smaller flat and, unfortunately, the animal family members have to find a new place and owner.

Wickie, Lucky, Anton and Michl are an example of how people in need entrust themselves to Gut Aiderbichl and how a solution is found together: for the good of all, that is the goal. Looking and helping is part of Gut Aiderbichl’s philosophy.

(...) Every time we save an animal, we also save this world. By reminding people's hearts of what love is. What hope means. And: compassion. This is the foundation on which everything else can and must grow. This empathy must not be lost, because it is the foundation for everything. (...)

– Dieter Ehrengruber, Board of Trustees of Gut Aiderbichl

Empathy is like the sun: it warms and helps those who can’t feel the warmth in life right now. Yours sincerely, Gisela
