A farming family had been given little Maxl as a foal and lovingly raised him. But as he grew older, they began to despair of the mini-shetty. Maxl kept escaping from the farm and joining the other horses in the neighborhood. No fence, nothing could stop him. But then Maxl's owners lost patience. When he was once again brought back to the farm by an animal lover, his death sentence had already been passed. Maxl was destined for the slaughterhouse, as there was no one willing to take in the pony gelding, who suffered from a deformity in his hind legs. The animal lover pulled out all the stops to save Maxl and shortly before his ultimatum expired, we were able to say yes.
